Easy & Healthy Homemade Chai Latte

Skip the $7 Starbucks run and stomach ache with this easy and inexpensive chai concentrate recipe!


4 cups water

8-12 cardamon pods

1 tsp ground cloves (or 5-6 whole cloves)

1 tsp whole all-spice

1/2 tsp fennel seeds

1/2 peppercorns

2-3 star anise

2 whole nutmeg, crushed

1 -2 inches of ginger root, chopped

2-3 cinnamon sticks

1/4 cup coconut sugar

6-8 tea bags

Any milk of your choice!


  1. Combine all ingredients except tea bags and vanilla in a large pot

  2. Place over medium heat until it reaches a boil then lower the heat and simmer for 20 mins

  3. Remove from heat and place tea bags in the pot. Cover and let brew for 3 hours or overnight (depending on how strong and flavourful you like it)

  4. Strain the mixture using a fine mesh strainer 2-3 times

  5. Store in the fridge in a sealed jar for up to a week!

  6. To make a latte add 1:1 ratio of concentrate to your milk of choice!!


  • For longer storage, freeze in an ice cube tray

  • Go to bulk barn for all the ingredients! (Student deals on Wednesdays!)
